The Community of Practice Risk Management of the PMI Germany Chapter e.V. has started its substantive work after the kick-off in January – with a clear roadmap and a growing circle of committed practitioners.
Risks are part of every project. But how systematically do organizations really deal with the imponderables of a project? Are the companies more opportunity-oriented or value-preserving? And what can be learned from different industries? These are precisely the questions addressed by the CoP Risk Management of the PMI Germany Chapter.
Since its launch at the beginning of the year, the community has already reached its first milestones in terms of content: In the first sessions, the 10 to 15 participants – from different industries and with a wide range of project experience – jointly developed a roadmap for 2026. The proven Project Risk Management Life Cycle Framework with its seven phases serves as a guiding framework:
- Plan Risk Management
- Identify Risks
- Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis
- Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis
- Plan Risk Responses
- Implement Risk Responses
- Monitor Risks
The first sessions were dedicated to the Risk Management Plan – the basis for everything that follows. Now the CoP is starting with the next phase: Identify Risks. How do you identify risks at an early stage? Which methods have proven themselves in practice? And what are the blind spots – depending on the industry, project type and corporate culture?
It is precisely these questions that we want to discuss together – without methodological dogmatics, but with real practical relevance and many examples that can be put into practice immediately.
Interested in being part of it?
The CoP Risk Management meets at least once a month for one hour – compact, focused and practical. The community is looking forward to new members from all industries and project contexts. If you would like to participate, simply write an informal e-mail to: cop-risikomanagement@pmi-gc.de
