From October 25-28, 2023, the PMI Global Summit 2023 was held in Atlanta. With over 3,500 attendees, this was the largest in-person event ever hosted by PMI.
During a speech, Pierre Le Manh, CEO of PMI conveyed the following key messages on the state of PMI and project management:
- PMI is very successful - PMI has grown twenty-fold in 20 years in terms of membership and this year will again break new records in terms of new members, PMP certifications (44% of all PMP certifications have been earned in the last 5 years), and people PMI reaches overall. PMI has become the "Home of the Project Professionals" worldwide.
- Everything PMI does must focus on the project team members, on INCREASING project success, and on doing it RESPONSIBLY.
- AI is not a fad, it is profoundly transforming Project Management. PMI, through its PMIxAI initiative, aims at leading the AI transformation of Project Management. PMIxAI includes thought leadership, events, learning products (60k professionals have already registered to PMI’s first course, Gen AI overview for PM, in less than a month) and Infinity, a PMI AI assistant combining Gen AI and vetted PMI content - the MVP is coming soon.
- PMOs and their variants (xMOs) are essential to project management and to what PMI is trying to accomplish. For this reason, PMI has announced an agreement to acquire the PMO Global Alliance (PMOGA), an organization with a community of approximately 17,000 members in the field of PMOs.
