From January 12 to 14, 2024, the board of the PMI Germany Chapter met in Leipzig for the annual kick-off event.
Despite the rail strike and some not insignificant obstacles, most of the board members managed to make it to Leipzig to attend the annual kick-off meeting. Those who were unable to come to Leipzig in person were able to attend virtually as far as possible.
In the first block, we critically reviewed the priorities of the past year and derived our key topics for 2024. Unsurprisingly, a central focus of our work in 2024 will once again be to provide regional and local training and networking opportunities. Overall, we have a lot planned again and are of course hoping for active support from more volunteers. As part of the block, we also discussed a list of possible member benefits, which we will implement as far as resources allow.
In the second block, we reviewed last year's PM Summit and drew conclusions - lessons learned - for future events of this kind. As part of this block, we also discussed support for THE major event of the year, the PMI Global Summit Series on April 10 and 11, as well as the Leadership Institute Meeting on April 12 and 13, 2024 in Berlin. Both events will require considerable volunteer work.
The third block then focused on our volunteers themselves. In an association that is supported by volunteers, the volunteers form the backbone of the organization. Accordingly, it is important to keep reminding ourselves who we have on board and where we need further support. We will continue to try and improve the situation through increased recognition, stronger support, better community education and much more.
In the last block, various topics such as sponsorship acquisition and specific operational points were discussed.
Of course, there was also plenty of time for refreshments, socializing and informal discussions. Accordingly, the two evenings were used to enjoy delicious Saxon cuisine in Leipzig and to discuss many topics with each other.
Once the rail strike was over on Sunday, the return journeys were a little more relaxed.
