Dear Chapter Members, In a kind of column, I have decided to regularly address important topics of the PMI Germany Chapter, the PMI as a whole or topics that are important to me. I would like to start with a matter close to my heart: volunteering and volunteers.
When I meet our volunteers at events, I am always deeply overwhelmed by their commitment and visible enthusiasm. Their eyes sometimes sparkle with dazzling pride, comparable to that of an Olympic champion on his podium. Even after hours of effort under great pressure, the intense joy at the success they have achieved testifies to their dedication and passion.
Each of these moments is the culmination of a human, communal and personal adventure that enriches our organization and each individual member. It exemplifies the essence of our organization: creating value, contributing to a community and finding tremendous personal satisfaction.
Volunteering is first and foremost a matter of the heart. Our volunteers give their time, skills and energy for the common good without expecting anything in return. Their motivation stems from a deep desire to contribute to something bigger than themselves. By giving first, they create an environment where sharing and mutual support are at the heart of everything they do. Our volunteers are the beating heart that keeps every component of the PMI Germany Chapter alive. Without volunteers, we would not function.
Volunteers not only give, but also receive something in return, which has a tangible positive effect. And this is precisely the appeal and magic of volunteering. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to develop new skills, gain or expand useful experience and strengthen your professional network. As a volunteer, you lead projects that are different from everyday life, dive into uncharted waters and try out new environments. These are all experiences that enrich your personal and professional development and enhance your CV. As a volunteer, you decide to do something meaningful, which also contributes significantly to your personal well-being.
The feeling of contributing to a shared vision or an area close to your heart, seeing the tangible results of your efforts and receiving recognition from like-minded people is invaluable. This satisfying feeling of having a positive impact is a source of personal motivation. This commitment creates a positive cycle. Our volunteers bring innovative ideas and new energy through their diverse experiences and perspectives. They forge relationships, create connections and strengthen a sense of belonging. They become ambassadors of our values and mission, helping to build a strong organization and community.
Summertime invites you to reflect and take a step back. Why not think about whether volunteering could be something for me? I'm already a member, so why not take the next step? I invite everyone to think about volunteering with the PMI Germany Chapter, whether you have been a member for a long time or have only recently joined.
Every hour invested, every skill shared, every idea contributed, all contribute to making the PMI Germany Chapter a dynamic, innovative and welcoming community, with the common goal of working together to maximize project success in all areas of society to make our world a better place.
