Dear project managers, aspiring PMs, and everyone passionate about turning ideas into impact,
Welcome to the seventh PMI Roundtable in Mainz!
This meetup brings together professionals who manage, lead, and build – for an open, informal conversation about real-world challenges in project management. Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting out, your perspective is truly valued.

Evening Topic: “Self-Awareness in Project Management: How understanding yourself improves leadership, communication and decision-making.”

In project management we often focus on tools, methods, and frameworks — the practical foundation of how we plan and deliver projects. Over time, communication and people management become just as important: we learn to work with different personalities, build trust, and navigate complex team and stakeholder dynamics.

At some point, however, it becomes clear that external tools and understanding others are not enough on their own. Attention gradually shifts inward — toward how we ourselves think, react, and make decisions under pressure.

Self-awareness becomes a key capability here: the ability to recognize our internal states, understand our emotions and patterns, and see how they influence our leadership, communication, and decision-making in projects.

This evening, we will explore:
• why self-awareness is becoming a core skill for project managers
• how our internal states shape communication, leadership, and decisions
• how self-awareness shows up in real project situations (meetings, conflict, uncertainty)
• whether and how this skill can be developed in practiceThe goal is a practical exchange: learning from each other’s experiences, comparing approaches across sectors, and discovering insights that we can apply in our own projects.

If there’s a topic you’ve been wanting to explore – bring your own question. Expect a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for exchanging insights, finding like-minded peers, and leaving with fresh inspiration.

The working language of the meetup is English, to include our international network. Of course, feel free to contribute in German whenever that’s more comfortable – we value clarity over formality.
