Promoting and advancing the application of professional project management in all areas of society is PMI's major overarching goal. With almost 700,000 members, PMI is the world's largest organization in this field. For many, simply being a member of this great family is a benefit in itself. However, being a member of PMI and the PMI Germany Chapter brings many additional benefits. These are often not even known. For this reason we are going on a search for you and from now on we will present a "Benefit of the Month" every month. In the first episode we presented the free access to the basic work of project management par excellence, the PMBOK® Guide. In addition, there are a number of other works that define standards and to which every member has free access. We would like to briefly introduce two standards to you in the following.

The Standard for Portfolio Management is an important reference work for portfolio managers as well as project and program managers - regardless of the industry or the type of project implementation.

In today's era of rapid change and constant transformation, mature portfolio management practices have proven to be an important tool for business success.

Portfolio managers oversee a range of projects, programs and other activities that are grouped together to achieve strategic business objectives. The practice of portfolio management is an essential component in implementing a company's overall strategic plan.

The standard for portfolio management reflects current practices. It provides a description of portfolio management to reflect its relationship to organizational project management and the organization. It is principles-based and thus applicable to a wide range of organizations, regardless of the type of project delivery.
