Dear project managers, aspiring PMs, and everyone passionate about turning ideas into impact,
Welcome to the ninth PMI Roundtable in Mainz!
This meetup brings together professionals who manage, lead, and build – for an open, informal conversation about real-world challenges in project management. Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting out, your perspective is truly valued.

Evening Topic: “The Human Side of Project Management: Engagement, Connection and Working Together”
Project management is, at its core, about people. No matter how well we master methodologies, tools, and processes, it is people who ultimately bring projects to life. Their motivation, communication, and ability to work together turn plans into meaningful results

A project manager's role goes far beyond assigning tasks and monitoring progress. It involves building trust, encouraging ownership, motivating teams, and creating an environment where people can work towards a shared goal. Leadership is not simply about directing others, but about understanding people and bringing out the best in them.

At the same time, different personalities, expectations, and communication styles can make teamwork challenging. Working with clients adds another dimension, requiring flexibility, empathy, and the ability to navigate changing priorities while balancing the needs of the team with the expectations of the client.

But what is the deeper purpose of our work as project managers? Is it simply about delivering projects successfully, or is it also about creating value for the people involved and those who ultimately benefit from the results?

This evening, we will explore:

 • building trust, engagement, and ownership within teams
 • leadership, motivation, and challenging team dynamics
 • effective communication and constructive client relationships
 • balancing people, expectations, and project results
 • our personal motivations and the deeper purpose of project management

Join us for an open discussion to exchange experiences and perspectives on the human dimension of project management — and what it means to work with people and for people.

As we approach the Christmas season and the end of the year, let us take a moment to reflect on what truly matters in our profession: the people behind every project.

If there’s a topic you’ve been wanting to explore – bring your own question. Expect a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for exchanging insights, finding like-minded peers, and leaving with fresh inspiration.
The working language of the meetup is English, to include our international network. Of course, feel free to contribute in German whenever that’s more comfortable – we value clarity over formality.

We’re excited to continue growing our local PMI community in Mainz and look forward to seeing you at our event!
