Study Group Session: Processes: Integration and initiation (Aaron Haoua)
Focusing on the Start: Integration and Initiation according to the PMBOK® Guide
In this session, we dive into the first critical steps of any project. We explore the "Initiating" focus area and the integration processes within the "Governance Performance Domain" of the new PMBOK® Guide (8th Edition).
The starting point is the Project Charter, which not only formally authorizes the project but also establishes its strategic alignment and provides the project manager with the necessary authority. In addition to formal approval, we highlight the early identification of stakeholders as a vital foundation for project success.
In the second part, we examine the integration process as the common thread that unites all sub-disciplines—from schedules to risk management—into a value-driven whole. We will discuss how targeted tailoring and integrated change management ensure that the focus remains on project value throughout the entire lifecycle. This session provides valuable insights for PMP exam preparation and demonstrates how the new standard bridges the gap between theory and practice.
