About the event:
Successful project management requires well-coordinated teams that can achieve goals efficiently and respond to technical challenges and changes as quickly as possible. A key to this are soft skills in the area of communication, combined with an agile mindset, a culture of error and the ability to think “out-of-the-box” through changing perspectives. It is precisely these soft skills that are a core element in improvisational theater.
Improvisational theater may seem like a fun game at first, but it actually holds valuable project management lessons.
This evening invites you to get to know and apply the principles of improvisational theater. Participants actively experience how the methods of improvisational theater can help to strengthen team structures and communication, change skills and innovative strength.
Key Take-aways
Similarities between improv theater and project management:
- Mindset as the key to success
- Positive error culture
- Strengthening flexibility and spontaneity
- New perspectives, co-creation and innovative strength
- Resilience and change skills
- Trustful cooperation at eye level
Are you up for an evening full of fun, new knowledge and networking? Then be there on May 15th!
About the speakers:
Dr. Andreas Volland
“In my work, I support specialists and managers in growing their projects – with the right methods, creative techniques and smart decisions.”
For more than 15 years I have been working with customers, colleagues and people on the research, development and implementation of new technical products and processes. My experience as a long-standing project manager, consultant and trainer in the area of project and process management gives me the tools to deal with issues in both classic and agile work structures. I am particularly interested in promoting a culture of innovation and future technologies. I am fascinated by the contact point for development/engineering, (project) management and organization. I discovered my passion as an improv player and improv trainer 5 years ago and have been playing regularly in a Hamburg ensemble ever since. I like to playfully support teams in their transformation into project experts: people who care about and succeed in the prosperity and growth of their organization.

Kerstin Hoffmann
As a team leader of an organization that is in the process of change, my main focus is on organizational and team development. My job is to sustainably improve processes and make my employees fit for their new roles with the help of skills development. For this I also like to use improvisational theater methods. I regularly play actively in a Hamburg women's improv group and founded the Afterwork Impro project at the end of last year. As an improv trainer, I would like to give people low-threshold access to the methods of improvisational theater.
