Women@PMIGC: Reading the Room, Twice - Culture, Bias, and Communication in Global Projects
Leading international projects means reading two invisible filters at once: the cultural code shaping how a message lands, and the gender bias shaping how it's heard when a woman is speaking. The two get confused constantly, and that confusion costs clarity, credibility, and connection.
This session isn't built around a finished answer. Input on how information gets processed, how stereotypes form, and where cultural conditioning ends and bias begins sets the frame. The real work happens in what participants bring to the table: their own experiences, their own blind spots, and the assumptions they didn't know they were carrying.
Because awareness, of one's own bias and everyone else's, is where change actually starts.
Participants will leave with:
- A clearer sense of how to tell "cultural" from "gendered" in their own experience
- Real perspectives from peers navigating similar dynamics across different regions
- A sharper awareness of their own assumptions, the first step to changing them
For women leading global, cross-cultural project teams.
