The third round of the established mentoring program from the PMI Germany Chapter has been successfully completed. After intensive months of learning and networking, the program looks back on another successful year. The round for 2025 is already in the starting blocks, ready to accompany new mentors and mentees on their journey.  

The PMI Germany Chapter's Mentoring Program 2024 came to a successful conclusion last November with a feedback session. Over 40 mentoring pairs took part in the six-month program - a new record! As in previous years, the matching of the pairs was carried out by an advanced algorithm that ensured optimal pairing, as well as careful manual adjustments to accommodate specific requests as much as possible.

There were a few new features for the 2024 cycle:

• After the first two months, a special networking session was held to promote exchange among the participants.

• Separate virtual group rooms for mentors and mentees created a safe environment for discussions and sharing experiences.

• For new mentors, there was a special introductory event and extensive materials to help them get started. Similar materials were made available to the mentees to assist them. 

• All participants receive certificates in recognition of their commitment.

• Mentors can collect PDUs for their certificate via the PMI website.

The participants were enthusiastic and reported many positive things about their experiences: “Great mentor, excellent organization”, “An opportunity to communicate with an experienced professional”, “Get to know different perspectives that lay outside of my comfort zone”, “Networking, new impressions”... 

A brief outlook on the 2025 program: Registration is expected to start in March and the program should officially start after Easter (subject to change – we are all volunteers). This year, the focus will be on expanding the program, revising the materials and continuing the successful sessions from 2024. In particular, we would like to recruit more women as mentors in order to strengthen diversity and inclusion in the program. With this in mind, a heartfelt appeal to all female project managers in the chapter: Sign up! We will provide you with material and support from experienced mentors to help you get started.
