Promoting and advancing the application of professional project management in all areas of society is the overriding goal of PMI. With over 700,000 members, PMI is the world's largest organization in this field. For many, simply being a member of this great family is a benefit in itself. However, being a member of PMI and the PMI Germany Chapter also brings many other benefits. These are often not even known. For this reason, we are going on a search for you and presenting a "Benefit of the Month" every month.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will profoundly change project management. It can automate tasks, analyze data and support well-founded decisions. AI-supported tools improve scheduling, risk assessment and resource allocation. Project managers benefit from more precise forecasts and more efficient workflows. Communication with stakeholders is improved through AI-supported analyses and reports. Overall, AI will boost productivity and increase the chances of project success by taking over routine tasks and providing valuable insights that complement human capabilities.
PMI is researching in various teams what impact the use of AI will have on the field of activity of project managers. Based on the insights gained, experts (thought leaders) are trying to form a picture of what the future of project management will look like and to influence the design of the future picture.
In parallel, PMI is developing courses and products to help members acquire the knowledge and skills needed for successful project management in the future.
Examples of this are the courses „Generative AI Overview for Project Managers“ or „Data Landscape of GenAI for Project Managers“, which are available to PMI members free of charge, or PMI-Infinity, a platform that uses the possibilities and techniques of Generative AI to support project managers in their work and achieve improved project results.

As the PMI Germany Chapter, we also deal with the topic of AI in project management and have set up a Community of Practice (CoP) for this purpose.
