Life sciences is a very broad field that generally deals with the study of living organisms and their interactions with the environment. Applications include healthcare, medicine, biotechnology, agriculture and food production.

The Community of Practice (CoP) - Life Sciences consists of dedicated PMI members with diverse expertise and extensive professional experience in the fields of pharmacy, biotechnology, laboratory technology and medical technology. We would also like to welcome you to our CoP Life Sciences and invite you to join our activities.

One of our focus areas is project management in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, which is characterized by rapid scientific advances, regulatory changes and high competitive pressure. In this environment, project managers must lead complex, interdisciplinary projects that require agility and up-to-date expertise. In the CoP Life Sciences, we share our experiences, insights and new ideas on topics such as:

• How can project management support early research in a meaningful way?
• How can interdisciplinary collaboration with research and development functions be improved through project management standards for development processes?

We recently launched a new initiative in the CoP Life Sciences to work on current topics of great interest in three working groups: Project Management in Product Development, Agile and AI. The results from the working groups are to be published within approx. 3 months in various forms such as articles or presentations. The working groups will meet at different intervals as required. Your contribution is also very welcome. Participation in the working groups of our CoP Life Sciences offers many advantages for all participants, including an open learning culture and the acquisition and exchange of knowledge of current project management content that can be directly applied in practice and in interdisciplinary collaboration.
