We are proud to introduce our next speaker, Gamze Karayaz,Ph.D.,PMP, who will discuss Redefining local NGOs' role in Disaster Recovery.

The World Economic Forum Global Risk Report of 2023 states that natural disasters, such as earthquakes, are ranked as the 2nd global risk category. If such a risk occurs, local NGOs are instrumental in accessing resources and supporting disaster areas. However, suppose the disaster is significant and widespread, as in the case of the recent earthquake in Turkey. In that case, an immediate response to agile recovery is almost impossible without the support of global NGOs. Turkey lies in an earthquake zone with active fault lines and cannot afford to risk uncoordinated local efforts on the ground. By learning from this heartwrenching experience, her talk will cover redefining the role of local NGOs.

Gamze is an Academic at Isik University and a Region Mentor at Project Management Institute.
